Mass Effect N7 Day - The Fireworks of Renegade by Splikitt Mass Effect N7 Day - The Fireworks of Renegade by Splikitt
EDIT: UNDER CONSTRUCTION -- Fixing up lines, so stay tuned!

My submission for N7 Day, which is the day Mass Effect fans around the world celebrate and relive the greatness that is the Mass Effect game franchise. I have been obsessed with games as a child, but never before has a game series ensnared me to this degree. I am so obsessed with this game series it is almost ridiculous, but I do not regret it at all.

Took about a week, mostly since I was doing this between overtime work hours.

Entirely done in Photoshop CS5.

I hope you all enjoy it! Go Destruction!!!!

Please take the time to comment on if you can!

I never understood why 'destroy the reapers and make sure they never hurt people again' is the renegade option and 'become the god of reapers for eternity' is a paragon choice.  The first option seems pretty straightforward, even with the side-effect of genocide, while the second gets into all kinds of moral dilemmas, especially when you consider the long-term consequences of such an action. I mean, there was no guarantee that a Shepard, even a full paragon, who chose 'control' would even believe the same things after.
(Of course, none of the endings were all that great in my opinion. Unfortunate implications all around.)

Well, throughout the game, Renegade options frequently cut through many dialogue to get to a conclusion quickly, while Paragon more or less debated on whether they were, or needed to consider more options before making a decision. Destroying the reapers, the thing that clearly was going to kill everything in the universe, is a quicker solution. Becoming god over the reapers is very much a Paragon choice in my opinion.

That is true, no guarantee that Shepard could control them or not, but the same goes for all choices since they involved the destruction of the reapers through the Mass Effect gates. What would happen to the universe when their main mode of interstellar travel is destroyed? It was built by predecessors, how could they make more? There was definite consequences to choosing Renegade, morally and non morally. The reason being that the Geth (if you chose to save them of course) now could not help bring stability to Tali's people, Edi would be killed, all sorts of disruption with electronics in those fields could bring massive catastrophes. Its all up for speculation of course. ^^;

Synthesis was more or less, in my opinion, something very un-like Shepard. There was little to NO synthesis related decisions. It was always a balancing act between Renegade and Paragon, and very little Synthesis.

I suppose the destroy option was the 'quickest' resolution, so I guess you have a point there.  But I think my main problem with the control option is that it's essentially Shepard deciding to put themselves in the position of a physical god- and the old saying about 'absolute power corrupts absolutely' generally holds true.  Who's to say that in a thousand, ten thousand or a million years that even a Shepard who was originally a paragon wouldn't become just as tyrannical as any despot, with the entire power of the Reapers to support them?  What are people supposed to do if they don't like the way Shepard, as the unquestionable, self-appointed god-king of the galaxy, decides to run things?  And that's even if the process of becoming the catalyst didn't change their personality in the first place.  Or, if you rather, imagine what a renegade Shepard could do as a Reaper god.  A pure renegade Shepard is really no better than Saren was, and who would want Saren as the Reaper god? That much power in any one person's hands would be problematic to say the least. That much power in one person's hands for all eternity? Talk about a nightmare waiting to happen.
And then there's the fact of how unfair it would be for Shepard, especially a paragon Shepard who keeps their personality and mind.  I won't go into all the downsides of immortality, because those are mostly obvious.  But imagine the burden of responsibility for having that much power, and knowing that it will never end.  That would not be very pleasant.
I'm not exactly saying that the destroy option was more paragon than the control.  In my opinion, there were no real paragon options.  It was bad option #1, bad option #2, bad potential option #3 and really, really bad option #4.  But I feel like the destroy option is pretty much the same as what Shepard did on Aratoht, just on a larger scale and with the geth and EDI. And the Extended Cut ending for destroy mitigates a lot of the other bad consequences, since it doesn't completely destroy the relays.

Synthesis was just thrown in, I feel like, for the sake of having a 'third' option.  At least theoretically with synthesis, nobody (except Shepard) loses.  Or maybe everybody loses equally, since everybody is changed (and, depending on how you feel about it, violated) regardless of their will.
